In the early 20th century, Yaakov Fichman penned the enchanting poem “Agada” (a Legend) based on his great love for the land of Israel. The composer Chanina Krachevsky later wrote this lyrical melody to the words, propelling them to further heights.
“On the banks of the Kineret, there is a beautiful palace.
A garden is planted there – not a single tree moves.
Who lives there? Only a boy, like a bird in the heart of a forest.
He studies Torah there from the mouth of Eliyahu the Prophet.
Not a wave makes a sound. All the flyings birds
Stand by to listen and soak up God's Torah.”
Here is Hu Eloheinu from the Mussaf K'dusha set to this legendary melody.
