At the conclusion of the reading of the Law, an honouree raises the Torah aloft, displaying the portion which has just been read, and the congregation loudly declares: "This is the Torah that Moses placed before the children of Israel at the Lord's commandment, by the hand of Moses." This popular melody is often attributed to Idelsohn but was actually composed by Jacob Beimel, chazzan at the Jewish Center during the early 20th century.
