Shimru Shabtotai is a less well known but charming Shabbat day zemer. The verses spell out an acrostic of the author's name Solomon, which some have suggested was the 16th century Italian composer Salamone Rossi.
Finding that his family did not have a tune for Shimru Shabtotai, Rabbi Eliezer Diamond composed this melody in the 1960s. Whilst this tune has become popular, many people are unfortunately only familiar with a modified, inferior version of the melody. This arrangement is per the composer's original intent.
