Hashkiveinu is recited every evening at Ma'ariv, following the Sh'ma, as well as at night before we go to sleep. In this prayer, we ask for protection through the night, seeking God's watchful care and deliverance. This beautiful melody by Harris Philip Rosenberg (choirmaster of the New Synagogue on Egerton Road) is specifically intended for the High Holidays. Rosenberg's composition features a rich variety of textures, including solo chazzan, choir, duets, and a baritone solo. Although the original piece also required boy sopranos, I have arranged it here for a male voice choir.
